Have you heard today’s big news! Today, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and many other organisations announced they have joined the CHOOSE WISELY campaign, drawing national attention to the overuse and misuse of induction of labor. ACOG and AAFP are telling women and their maternity care providers:
- Don’t schedule elective, non-medically indicated inductions of labor or cesarean deliveries before 39 weeks 0 days gestational age.
- Don’t schedule elective, non-medically indicated inductions of labor between 39 weeks 0 days and 41 weeks 0 days unless the cervix is deemed favorable.This is an announcement from the ACOG President.

“Eden awoke and looked like a rested angel and dove right into the birthing pool with me. She was so pleased that she had a pool in her living room. I labored as she swam and played joyously behind me. Eden got out and fed me mango popsicle. Eventually, when baby’s bottom began to emerge Eric got in the pool and held me.”
This is such a beautiful birth story. My dream birth would be a home water birth with Jake, Sophie, and a midwife present.
